Aerial Hook

Aerial Hook

Prerequisites

Butterfly Hook

Optional

none
An Aerial with a hook kick at the end. You can also view this as an inverted Butterfly Hook

Note: This trick is a variation of the tricker aerial. It does not work with the gymnast aerial much.

01 Butterfly Hook

Very easy. It's a butterfly kick with a hook kick at the end. Or a very exaggerated tsunami kick. It feels very similar to the Aerial Hook.

02 Aerial

You don't need even need a very good aerial for this trick. Just be able to land and make sure it's the tricker aerial.

03 facing the front

Do a Butterfly Hook where you don't spot over your shoulder but underneath you (inverted). This change alone almost turns it into an Aerial Hook.

04 Aerial Hook

All that is left is to actually perform an aerial. Drop your body lower and spot your target immediately. Swing your backleg up high and fast and kick as your backleg is coming around.
Tips

The hardest part of this trick is to perform an aerial without spotting the floor, which can be a little bit irritating at first. Drill your Aerials looking to the side first if you need to.

As you leave the ground, focus on your target and pull your kicking leg through. You should be starting the kick very early if you want a hook kick. Kicking late will result in a crescent or even an axe kick.

If you can do the Butterfly Hook and Aerial, this trick is basically free.
