The concept of blocking

The concept of blocking is very helpful for any kind of trick but it is especially helpful for the frontflip.  Blocking essentially means to turn forward travelling momentum into upward momentum. You achieve this by hitting the floor at about a 45 degree angle with your feet to get as much height as possible. Backflips can be done easily from standing but frontflips are way harder to do standing because they are more reliant on blocked momentum.

Take a brief run or jog into your setup and get ready to hop into your block. This little hop is also called 'hurdle' in gymnastics.

Block at about an 45 degree angle all while your arms are up and ready to initiate the flip rotation.

Push up all they through your toes and swing your arms down while you rise up.

Pull your knees in and grab them. Now stay like this!

just a bit longer...tense up your abs to stay as tight as possible.

As you come around it's important not to open up too soon as this will cut your flip rotation short and you may fall on your butt upon landing.

Pull your feet down. Don't just wait and hope you get around.  Focus on actually landing by doing it yourself.

Landing! Bend your knees to absorb the impact.

Tips

Remember to use your arms! Raise them up as high as possible right before your take off. It will give you more height and more room for the swing.

The block is useless if you don't jump with full extension. So make sure you push through all the way through your toes. Everything should be straight on the takeoff.

If you are falling on your butt, try to stay tucked a bit longer before you pull your feet down for the landing.

Do not flip downwards. You should jump up, gain height, rotate in the air and then come down. Do not jump and rotate while your descending...
Jump up first.
