Backside 1080 Double

Backside 1080 Double

If you think of a Backside 1080 Double as a Backside 1080 but with two kicks it seems to be a lot more difficult than it actually is. It’s a lot easier if you just think of it as a Pop 720 Double from standing (from backside).

Or even easier: Backside 720 Turbo is just a Pop 360 with a bit more rotation, right? Backside 1080 Double is just a Backside 720 Turbo where you quickly turn around for another kick. So it’s just A BIT harder than a Pop 360.

01 720 Double

Either Pop or Cheat works fine. Be able to do at least one of them, so you know how to turn an outside crescent or hook into another one. The key is to kick your leg around to the side, so you can pump your other knee over. That will get you into the perfect position to throw another kick.

02 Backside 720 Turbo

The Backside 1080 Double is essentially this trick but canceled and pumped over for another kick. Make sure to spot forward while you kick through. This will make the transition to the Backside 1080 Double easier.

And lastly you should be able to do a normal Backside 1080. It uses the same knee pump motion minus the first kick.

Make sure you put more power into the setup than usual. You want to squeeze two kicks into two spins, so more height will definitely help. Go for a really high and quick Backside 720 Turbo. As soon as you face the target after the first spin, pump your knee over and quickly spin around using your shoulders and hips. It should feel a lot like a normal 720 Double after the first spin.

Tips

For any Backside Kick, make sure you keep your arms open for the first 90 degrees of the spin and wrap them in as soon as your chest faces the target. That will keep you vertical and help with balance.

You can even learn this trick before you learn the normal Backside 1080, if you have a strong Backside 720 Turbo and a good Cheat or Pop 720 Double.

You spot three times with this trick. Before takeoff. After the first spin for the first kick and then while you fire the second kick. If you can’t quite make it to the last spot, try to jump higher, so you’ll have more time for the two spins.
