The Butterfly Twist, or commonly called B-Twist, is a Buttefly Kick with a 360 degree rotation.
The B-Twist will be the first twisting trick for a lot of people and can be a bit of a challenge to learn. However there is an easy way to progress into it, using the tsunami.
01Tsunami Kick
Also known as stepover hook kick. It's such an useful trick. You should learn it. It can also be used to learn the B-Twist.
02Tsunami(no Kick)
This time with no kick! Just keep your kicking leg bent.
03Hyper Step 02
And now hyper that (land on the kicking leg). This is basically an upright B-Twist. Also this is a great prerequisite for Cheat 900 and B-Twist Round.
If this is your first twisting trick
The move you just learned is not much by itself, but it can help you a lot with learning how to twist. This "Tsunami-no-kick-hyper"-thing is already a full 360 degrees of spin. You can drill this move to get used to twisting from one leg.
04Add a Setup
Now you are going to add the momentum steps, which are also used for butterfly kicks. You can do this slowly if you want to. It starts to look like a b-twist, doesn't it?
05Slanted B-Twist
Next step add the dipping motion that is also part of the Butterfly Kick. This will make you go a bit more horizontal. Also spot the floor now. Practice these two progressions a lot! So now we went from vertical B-Twist to a slanted one.
06B-Twist
Now all you have to do is bringing your backleg up straight until it's parallel to the ground, before you takeoff. This will make your B-Twist horizontal. Remember to use your whole body to twist and not just your legs. That's it.
Tips
Spot the ground throughout the trick. As you swing your back leg up spot the floor. Try to turn around fast, as you start to twist, so you can spot the floor again, as you come out of the twist.
Swing your arms wide as you setup and then bring them close to your body for the twist.
This is a very safe method of learning this trick but can still be unpredictable if you are unfamiliar with twisting. Either practice the prerequisites over and over again (which you should do anyways) or learn this on a safe surface.
