Barani

Barani

Prerequisites

Frontflip
Roundoff

Optional

Performing tricker: bam.defocus
The Barani is a Frontflip with an 180 degree rotation to land facing the way you came from. Think of it as a Frontflip that turns into a roundoff in midair.

01 Frontflip

Work on your Frontflip before you try this trick. You need to understand how to block for height and how to jump up with full extension. You CAN land the barani with a lowish Frontflip but the landing can be quite hard if you land too short. You need enough height to get your feet directly underneath your hips for the landing.

02 Roundoff

The Roundoff is the second half of the barani. It will teach you how to spot in the barani and how to land. Spot the ground the entire time. Focus on one point on the ground specifically. As your legs reach the peak, bring them together and snap them down into said spot. This will translate directly into the barani.

03 Barani

Start off like you would for the Frontflip and then perform a roundoff. Raise your arms and block into the trick, the same way as you would for a normal Frontflip. Even before you takeoff, focus on one spot on the ground. Jump and push all the way through your toes.

Try to lean a little bit into the flip. Not to the point where you would dive into it but a slight lean forward will make the flipping rotation shorter and easier to land.

As soon as you leave the floor drive your legs up and focus hard on driving both feet into the spot on the ground. It’s ok to swing them slightly sideways first instead of completely over your head. It will make the distance your feet need to travel less and easier to come around faster.

Tips

Make your chest face the ground the whole time. That will prevent you from flipping into a frontflip.

If you can already do a Brandy (Aerial Roundoff), this trick becomes even easier. The main difference is that the Brandy doesn’t rely on a block for height, but on a swing.
