Envergado

Envergado

Prerequisites

Optional

The Envergado is a inverted Raiz that is piked. It’s basically an inverted Parafuso.

01 Raiz

You should be able to perform a high and floaty raiz. This trick can also work with a low and inverted Raiz, but it can be quite a bit more difficult at first. Learn the high one first as you will have a bit more time in the air.

02 Parafuso

Since the Envergado is nothing else than an inverted Parafuso, you’ll need to learn this trick first. Try to minimize travel and maximize height. Imagine trying to land exactly where you took off.

03 Envergado

Now you need to put the Parafuso into your Raiz. Setup the same way as you would for a Raiz and aim for height. Try to spot the floor throughout the whole trick, just like you would for the Raiz. Swing your non jumping leg as high and as powerful as you can upwards. As soon as you reach the peak of your swing, bring both legs together and drive them into the spot where you are looking. If you already know how to Sideswipe, that could help, as this is a very similar motion. Bend your legs a bit as you land to absorb some of the impact.
Tips

Just as with Doublelegs and piked tricks in general, having flexible hamstrings and strong hip flexors will help. It will look cleaner and you’ll be able to complete the rotation faster.

Remember to spot the floor the whole time!

Arch your back as just like you would for the Raiz. As soon as you put your legs together to kick them down, tense your abs and catapult them around.

The Envergado is a great setup trick for moves that can be punched into, like Backside Kicks or backflipping tricks. Of course there are also other possibilities but these are the most common. The first Backside 1620 (TKT: Pop 1260 Round) was landed by Jordan Okubo from an Envergado.
