Gainer Arabian

Gainer Arabian

Prerequisites

Cheat Gainer

The Gainer Arabian is quite simply an Arabian that is swung into. It is also sometimes called Gainer Half or Gainer 180.

Even though it's a variation of the Arabian, you don't necessarily need to learn it first. There are at least two ways to do this trick. One is to swing into an Arabian, which can be very easy if you can already do a normal Arabian and a Gainer.

If not you can also just tuck into your Moonkick to land on both feet. Similar on how you would turn an Aerial into a Webster.

01 Cheat Gainer

Actually any Gainer variation is a good prerequisite. The slanted Cheat Gainer is just the easiest of them all.

However I highly recommend that you learn to invert your Gainer first before you move on (hips above head at some point). You will need some flipping momentum to turn it into an Gainer Arabian.

02 Moonkick

Look closely where my hip is facing when I land in the Moonkick. It's almost facing forwards, so there is not much left to turn this trick into an Arabian.

Learn this trick first and the Gainer Arabian won't be hard at all.

03 Aerial Webster

I view all Gainer tricks as Aerial Variations that are swung into. And the Gainer Arabian is no exception.

You can easily turn an Aerial into a Webster by tucking your legs in. You will also face forwards after. So if a Gainer Flash is just an Aerial that is swung into...   then all you need to do is tuck in and "Webster" it to turn it into a Gainer Arabian. Look how this Aerial Webster looks like. Pretty much the same trick as my Gainer Arabian, just with a different takeoff.

06 Gainer Arabian

Now put it all together. Setup for a big Moonkick. Wait a bit until you would fire the hook in a Moonkick. That's when you tuck your legs in instead to land on both feet. It should feel like entering a Webster from a backswing.

Make sure you are directing your momentum upwards and not forward. That means try to minimize travel and maximize height. Swing up into your opposite shoulder and push off strong with your other leg.

Tips

This is my way how I learned this trick. You can of course also approach this trick in different ways:

- Swing into Frontflip
- Swing into Arabian
- Cork minus 180 degrees
- Swing into Illusion Kick (very rarely)
