Hypertwist

The B-Twist Hyperhook, or usually just called Hyperhook, is exactly what the name describes: A B-Twist that is hypered and fires a hook kick.

You could think of it as a Hypertwist + Hook but many that try to learn it this way end up underrotating a lot.

My prefered method is to treat it like a Cheat 720 that is entered from a B-Twist Setup.

01 Butterfly Twist

You should have a very solid B-Twist before you attempt this trick. The Hyperhook is quite an advanced variation of the Butterfly Twist so drill those a lot and ideally learn some other variations as well.

02 Cheat 720

Ideally the double pump version, where you pump one knee over the other to get into the hook kick position. The pump is basically a tornado kick where you don’t kick but instead you drive your knee over. This exact motion is going to be used in the Hyperhook.

03 B-Twist Round

The B-Twist Round is a Tornado Kick that is entered from a B-Twist setup. And the Hyperhook is a Cheat 720 that is entered from the same setup. That means that the B-Twist Round is the perfect foundation for the Hyperhook, as there is not much needed to change it into a Hyperhook.

04.5 Hypertwist

The Hypertwist can be very useful but also harm your progression to the Hyperhook. It will help you to get used to the landing position but it can be very hard to get the kick out if you are not used to do Cheat 720s. For me a Hyperhook is a Cheat 720 from a B-Twist Setup and less a Hypertwist with a Kick.

05 Hyperhook

All you need to do now is a Cheat 720 instead of a Tornado from your setup. And of course you need a bit more power. Make sure you do a powerful dip into the trick. Jump hard go for a BIG B-Twist Round but instead of kicking out go for the knee pumping motion. It should feel like a B-Twist Round but with your knee. The rest is just Cheat 720.

Tips

If your kick is coming out low, you may need more flatspin. That means maybe you’re taking off forward too much. Remember if you take off with your left foot then you should jump to your left (and not forwards).

Just as with the B-Twist Round you don’t need to be perfectly horizontal for this trick. In fact it’s a lot easier if you are just a bit more vertical, because that will make it feel a lot more like a Cheat 720. If you want to be more horizontal, then you really need that flatspin to make room for the pumping motion.

Hypertwist can be a good prerequisite but in my opinion it’s more useful if you want to learn B-Twist Swipeknife. For me personally Hypertwist and Hyperhook feel completely different.
