Hyperswipe

Hyperswipe

Prerequisites

Optional

Hypertwist
B-Twist Swipe

This trick was made ‘popular’ (it’s actually fairly niche even nowadays) by Jujimufu and he actually also wrote an excellent tutorial on this trick back in the days of trickstutorials dot com, which inspired me to make this website.

He describes it as a more aggressive version of a Hypertwist. For me personally this feels more like Aerial Twist Swipe. Jujis Hypertwists actually had a bit of a swipe in there, that’s propably why he felt that Hyperswipe was very similar.

But it won’t work very well with fully inverted late twisting Aerial Twists (the ones that look more like Webster Twists). Ideally you want to have an Aerial Twist that twists early like an inverted B-Twist.

Alright, Alright...in a nutshell: Hyperswipe = Sideswipe but from an Aerial Twist Takeoff.

01 Aerial Twist

Try to throw your arms around and right into the twist, so you’ll start the twist right as you leave the ground. This can make it hard to hit proper inversion, so make sure you drive that backleg all the way straight up behind you. Try not to take off with your upper body too low or else you won’t gain as much height.

02 Sideswipe

The Hyperswipe and the Sideswipe are the same trick. The just start differently. Imagine this: Try to enter your Sideswipe but with the wrong foot. That’s exactly what a Hyperswipe is. Now of course you also want some inversion in there or else it’ll be just a B-Twist Swipe. So get comfortable with the Sideswipe, because the Hyperswipe will feel similar.

03 Hyperswipe

Now put this together. You need to setup exactly the same as you would for an Aerial Twist. Maybe put a bit more power into the setup than usual to get just a tad more height to fit the swipe in there. After you take off into the A-Twist, immediately think of a Sideswipe. Perform a Sideswipe right after you took off into an A-Twist. So the trick feels like 90 % Sideswipe and 10 % Aerial Twist which is just the takeoff.

Tips

You can also learn this trick by overrotating your Aerial Twist by 90°, so you’ll end up landing on the hyper leg anyway, but you may lose the kick aesthetic. But it’s a good prerequisite too. A-Twist Hyper and then A-Twist Swipe.

This trick is quite hard to do standing, so take a small run into it. It also works with the momentum steps of any Butterfly Twist type trick, but it may be harder to invert.
