Macaco

Macaco

Prerequisites

The Macaco is a backhandspring from a squatting position. It flips slightly over the side. Imagine trying to enter a roundoff from a squat. This is a great move to slowly get over backflip fear and to work your way up to a backhandspring.

01 into Cartwheel

Start off with a Cartwheel Macaco. All you have to do is to perform a Cartwheel from a squatting position. Swing your behind you one at a time, with your second arm reaching over to the side. Spot the floor and kick your legs up.

02 into Roundoff

Now just bring your legs together in the air, so you'll finish like you would for a round off. Also push off with both arms to get back into an upright position.

03 Macaco

The key to flipping your macaco backwards is fixing your spot onto your second hand. Swing your arm back straight behind your ear and look at your hand throughout the whole trick. This will make you flip backwards.

Tips
Stick your chest out and arch your back as you takeoff. It will look more "backflippy" and shorten the amount of rotation your swinging arm needs to travel.

You can also land in a 1-2 motion to swing the macaco through into another trick. Landing on both feet allows to punch into the next trick.
